Anyone know a good essay that responds to allegations from papers like these?
"But the Left’s long dominion over the university—the last place on earth that lefty power would break up, conservatives believed—is showing its first signs of weakening. The change isn’t coming from the schools’ faculty lounges and administrative offices, of course. It’s coming from self-organizing right-of-center students and several innovative outside groups working to bypass the academy’s elite gatekeepers."
I haven't seen a good defence of colleges against conservative accusations and claims of the growing conservative student insurgency in recent times, anyone know of any?

Here's a good comeback:
Studies show that the more educated one is, the more liberal they are. While this might imply that universities are liberal and indoctrinate one into being a liberal, it's far more likely that as one becomes more educated they simply see all the falacies of conservativism. This has been true of the highly educated throughout time.
I'm not certain what sort of comeback you're looking for, but I think it's a bit absurd when conservatives complain about liberal universities. I guess they also take issue with the Enlightenment.

I don't think the Enlightenment has really much to do with it; it's a little too "historical" to really apply in analyzing conservative views and why they proliferate in society and among many older college-educated, but not on college campuses themselves. While I would love to believe that liberals dominate campuses because liberalism is right, that is a bit too narrow-minded for my liking. That's why I'm looking for a good piece in response to my link (the author of said essay is also author of South Park Conservatives, an absurd attempt to say South Park is a boon to conservatives and the scourge of liberals), because I want to see more than just an assertion that smart people vote Democrat.

I was largely being facetious anyway. I went to a school that had a fairly conservative student body, but the faculty and administration was predominantly liberal. Interestingly, though, the student body now seems more liberal, and in large part that has do with admissions practices.
As for this article, it's got several flaws methodologically, but I just woke up, so I'm not going to write them out.
